The team together with its founder Dr. Matthias Koebel invented their proprietary Q-T polysiloxane hybrid molecular building block platform during their time at the Swiss Federeal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology - Empa. Realizing the potential of this technology early on, the founder decided to give up his career as a researcher at Empa and focus on the commercialization of his invention. With a small group of private and institutional investors he founded Siloxene in the fall of 2020. Siloxene started out as a small group of three people in January 2021, achieving operational status very quickly. Over the course of the year more people of Dr. Koebel’s former team joined Siloxene, the company growing to a head-count of 10 people by the end of 2021. The company is now focused on gaining traction in large-volume commercial applications.
